Wow. Woke up wondering what the issue was with my posts to lemmy.ml going nowhere. Turns out it's because they banned me for 2 weeks without any warning or notification. Their ban says it was for 'Rule 1'. That rule being bigotry, homophobia, sexism, or racism. Things that I abhorrently am against and would never be caught dead supporting. Also noticed a slew of my posts had been removed for either that same rule or for 'Rule 2' which is simply "Be Respectful". Strange given that the memes were attacking literally no one. The posts removed for 'Racism' also had an incredibly tangential connection to race.
One removed for that reason was a post shaming Disney for homophobia and constantly claiming a 'first gay character'. The title said "Technically it's always the first in China until they get removed from the movie" which I could see maybe being problematic but racist? If such a problem was had with the title, the title can literally be changed. Why not inform me and have me change it? Or even just send a simple warning after removal?
It seems like the Lemmy.ml instance suffers heavily from a 'Reddit Style' moderation style. Extremely heavy handed, no communication as to what's going on or what you've done wrong, and being extremely petty.
I guess I know what instance I'll be avoiding at all possible costs.
