Do not redefine #genocide.
I'll give you a hand: In the ninth ed. Macquarie, it is on page 649 between Genoa cake and Genoese. This word is not fuzzy. The actions of #Israel (and the planned actions of the #USA, announced by their President) are very clearly genocidal. As an organisation who's profession is words, you should be confidently using them in the manner the dictionary documents, then standing firmly behind the battlement of the definition.
(It is worth looking up the writings of the brilliant Raphael #Lemkin too - particularly the bit about preventing the 'rise of future Hitlers'. Maybe it is time for a Background Briefing about the word.)

Lemkin, author of international law against genocide, saw genocide as a process, not /just/ a final act. Steps to get to the final act, according to him, meant genocide was already in process--including incitement. The ICJ found this morning incitement is happening & Israel’s efforts to stop it fall short. The ICJ has instructed Israel to try harder to stop people from saying it out loud.
On Lemkin: "...he defines genocide as a colonial process of removing the national patterns of the oppressed and imposing the national patterns of the oppressors...notice in both the UN treaty and Axis Rule that genocide can be committed without killing anyone."
From the ICJ ruling: “While Steps such as these are to be encouraged, they are insufficient to remove the risk that irreparable prejudice will be caused before the Court issues its final decision in the case.”
