Dandelion meadow in Lehe, near OBI.

Amid all the green, this meadow feels like a small quiet moment of spring by the roadside. Dandelion seed heads everywhere, fresh grass in between, and dense trees in the background — an unassuming place that is beautiful precisely because of its simplicity.

Sometimes it is exactly these small glimpses of nature in everyday life that feel the most special.

On a house wall in Lehe.

Large-scale street art between everyday life and the surrounding buildings: this mural immediately catches the eye. The calm, focused figure and the fine details give the facade an almost narrative quality — as if the wall itself were telling a story from the neighborhood.

Scenes like this are part of what makes walks through Lehe so interesting.

Bremerhaven-Lehe Station – a piece of railway history in the Lehe district of Bremerhaven.

The current station building was constructed between 1912 and 1914 and designed by architect Ernst Moeller. With its high hipped roof, mansard sections, and distinctive clock turret, the brick building reflects the early 20th-century Reform architecture style. Decorative sandstone reliefs symbolize railway traffic and fishing — a reference to the city’s maritime character.

Since 2010, the station building has been listed as a protected cultural monument. Today, Bremerhaven-Lehe remains an active regional station — a place where historic architecture meets everyday movement, commuters, and passing trains. // #Bremerhaven #Lehe #BremerhavenLehe #BahnhofLehe #RailwayStation #RailwayPhotography #TrainStation #HistoricArchitecture #ReformArchitecture #BrickArchitecture #CulturalHeritage #BlackAndWhitePhotography #UrbanPhotography #NorthernGermany
Another view from the same riverside spot on the Geeste: a lone mooring post in the foreground, topped with an old metal fitting, standing like a quiet marker in the still water. The bare trees reflect on the surface, turning the whole scene into a calm black-and-white mirror. // #Bremerhaven #Lehe #Geeste #RiverGeeste #UrbanNature #Reflection #BlackAndWhitePhotography #MinimalMood #QuietPlaces #Riverside #NaturePhotography #NorthernGermany #Germany #MoodyLandscape #Pixelfed
Taken at the same spot as the previous photo of the Kistner ruins — just a few steps away and everything turns quiet: still water, winter trees, and a near-perfect reflection on the River Geeste. The Rickmers Yard crane on the River Geeste in Bremerhaven-Lehe — a striking relic of the city’s shipbuilding era. This full-portal tower slewing crane (Vollportal-Turmdrehkran) was installed in 1956 by Hans Seebeck Maschinenbau-Eisenbau GmbH (Bremerhaven-Lehe) and stands 35.5 m tall. Depending on outreach, it could lift up to 20 tonnes (or 7.5 tonnes at maximum outreach). After the Rickmers shipyard closed in 1986, the crane remained as an industrial monument and was refurbished in 2003 — today it’s officially protected as a heritage site. // #Bremerhaven #Lehe #Geeste #RickmersWerft #RickmersCrane #Shipyard #Shipbuilding #IndustrialHeritage #MaritimeHistory #HistoricMachinery #UrbanHistory #BlackAndWhitePhotography #NorthernGermany #Germany #Pixelfed
Rathaus Lehe in Bremerhaven at night — a beautifully lit neo-Gothic façade with its distinctive central archway. The building was originally erected in 1865 as a poorhouse and orphanage, remodelled in 1887 in neo-Gothic style (plans by Carl Pogge), and expanded in 1907 (plans by Heinrich Lagershausen). Today it’s a protected heritage building and part of Bremerhaven’s local history. //
