A common scam is to put money in a spouses name when you plan on going bankrupt and screwing consumers -looks better as being a Corp or LTD legalizes fraud .

But if we paid out a bond you had to pay us back .So spouses had to sign an agreement to pay us back along with a certificate of independent legal advice saying they understood ..

I had a case where we used it for a feedlot owner in Alberta -lots off con crooks there.

About 40 years ago I was a bond underwriter and if you took deposits for things such as rent you had to have a surety bond to guarantee damage deposits returned if you went bankrupt .

Bonds were dirt cheap , an admiin fee, as we were never supposed to have a loss, by underwriting guaranteed losses . Invariably the ones that got vicious were the ones that hid money/profit & were financially dishonest like most businesses
