“[Eric Schmidt] explained that only one criterion that mattered when picking a job- fat growth. When companies grow quickly, there are more things to do than there are people to do them. When companies grow more slowly or stop growing, there is less to do and too many people to not be doing them. Politics and stagnation set in, and everyone falters, He told me, 'If you're offered a seat on a rocket sip, you don't ask what seat. You just get on.”
― Sheryl Sandberg

Top 20 stripper/exotic dancer names based on my IRL repeated and sometimes embarrassing typos with some word followed by "it."

20 Isn Tit - They were in a huge hurry when they chose this stage name. They changed to Meowy McFurryson within a month.

19 Ligh Tit - This one didn't play well with audiences. People weren't getting "ligh = lie" as this performer intended. They later changed their stage name to Ill Goth 'n Booty.

18 Sen Tit - She intended Sen to recall "Senator," but everyone seemed confused.

17 Fel Tit - He wanted audiences to think "fell" as in "fierce and lethal," but after two separate people shouted "show us the moors" he changed his stage name to Chesticle Trauma.

16 Abou Tit - This performer's name was actually Abou, but he was accused of cultural appropriation one too many times and went to night school to become a court reporter.

15 Se Tit - Audiences kind of liked this, even though nobody had a clear sense of what "Se" was supposed to mean. The performer rolled with it and developed a "what do you think my name means?" act.

14 Ye Tit - The name played well. The performer affected an accent variously described as Cockney, Irish, or Scottish, and shouted the punch line "Ye Tit!" at drunken audience members to reasonable laughter.

13 Ren Tit - This was my Freshman year college roommate, and I can't decide if pole dancing was something he was reduced to, or if it was empowering and liberating. Honestly, the less said, the better.

12 Ben Tit - Ben did okay with this name. His name was actually Ben, however, and he had a difficult time shaking the stage name when his coworkers at Cisco found out.

11 Yee Tit - Very popular with Millennials and Zoomers. Depending on your predilections, you either did or did not want to be in the front row.

10 Can Tit - With expressive hand gestures at her body she got reliable applause repeating her stage name.

9 You Be Tit - They attempted to make this name work with a faux Yogi/Guru/Zen routine. It didn't take; a lot of viewers thought the name was a play on UB40, but people still remembered the name and the tips were okay.

8 Sor Tit - This performer came on stage in a nun habit and revealed the name about 45 seconds later, to strong applause.

7 Won Tit - Although this name made bank at two separate clubs, the Korean American performer eventually became disgusted with audience members assuming that (a) she was Chinese and (b) the name was a reference to won tons even though she had literal money taped to her chest. She changed her stage name to Cheryl Badd and made less in tips but was also less annoyed.

6 Mel Tit - Mel played the "what gender is this name?" angle along with "what gender is this performer?" very skillfully.

5 Don Tit - Dressed (initially) in heavy Oxford lecturer's robes, Evelyn raked in big tips with a "stodgy academic goes wild" routine.

4 Los Tit - The Brothers Tit stumbled onto this name when a manager in Pittsburgh misheard them. They shrugged and went with it. They never lacked for job or other offers.

3 Go Tit - A basic aerobics/spinning-themed act, but done extremely well. The name was memorable to thousands.

3 No Tit - The big reveal was preceded by various plays on the name, but it was the performer's skill that won hearts and minds.

2 Star Tit - With only a pair of sparkly pasties and some body paint she wowed crowds across the greater Albany region.

1 Le Tit - Americans can't resist the combination of French and Sexy, but the real ingredient was Lou: total professional at all times.

(Everything in this toot is fiction except the fact that I very frequently still type things like "go tit" and "about tit" when I mean "got it" and "about it")

There's a scene in the book where the author has her legs in stirrups, about to give birth for the first time, and Sheryl Sandberg demands talking points for a meeting with the Brazilian president. In the middle of her labour, she drags her laptop onto her labour bed and preps the meeting notes. She gives birth shortly afterwards.

By the time Wooten was fired in 2014, Sophia Amoruso had published her book #Girlboss, and the version of feminism that prioritized beating men at their own capitalist game was ascendant (Banet-Weiser; McRobbie). Beth had been earning approximately $38,000 (about $48,000 in 2023 dollars), while the board of directors was dominated by women in real estate and finance. By the end of Covid, #Girlboss had largely been discredited and was blamed for toxic and racist work culture (Mull). There were serious disconnections between the actions and aspirations of the board, and the community of the camp.
