Emeritus Prof Christopher MaySir Robert Chote (chair of the UK Statistics Authority) has criticised #LauraTrott for claiming #workers tax bills had gone down, when what she should have said was that her claim of a £1000 reduction was against counter-factual compared to a posited projected tax bill if tax thresholds hadn't gone up more than 2010.
Not only that, this conveniently misses the fiscal drag (no #inflation linked increases in thresholds) in the recent bout of inflationary pressure.
