Losing Colbert to The Putin in The White House: A Brief Comment

Preamble:
As many know, Stephen Colbert, the gentleman comedian and late night host, talented enough to have been given David Letterman’s job in the famous Ed Sullivan theater, has had his show cancelled by CBS, who bowed to criticisms from the Felon in The White House. He will finish his run in late night stand up comedy, and his commentary and interviews of celebrity guests on the show by the end of this month. The imposter president, Donald J. Trump, has attacked Colbert’s fellow comedians as well–most notably, Jimmy Kimmel. Here is my comment from You Tube:

Comment:
Something the White House Felon and his ignorant and uni-cultural supporters don’t realize or care about is–it was good to have an old-timer in late night comedy–someone born in the sixties, like some of us. Colbert came up in the second wave of the art and had class, education, historical acumen and an open mind. This is the hallmark of a good social commentator–and makes for an excellent host and humorist. It was great to have Carson, Lenno and Letterman for so long, and it was great having Colbert–regardless of how funny one may have thought he was–for very good historical, cultural and comedic reasons–and again, for the exercise of free speech, as well as humor.

Losing him to political pressure is a tragedy in our democracy and for it–something that should not happen in the United States of America, and along with the dismantling of our government, is another sign of the demise of our republic, for humor, comedy and satire helped launch our country and sound the alarm against the encroachment and hegemony of the British Empire we broke away from; and comedy has become the last frontier and bastion of free speech–which is why the Executive, now an out-of-control megalomaniac malignant narcissist–is distracted by its weaponization against his destruction of the economy, the world order and our freedoms and governance.

This should be a lesson to those who appreciate intellect, age, respect and perspective–not to mention free speech and American values–to say nothing of democracy. Let us not allow dangerously mentally ill people in government any longer. Sociopaths and psychopaths are not only dangerous, they are excruciatingly out of touch and boring and ruin our culture.

The Hollywood Reporter
The Banal Horror of Jimmy Fallon

"This machinery of niceness reaches points of fracture, but only occasionally. The most infamous was back in September 2016, when Fallon hosted Donald Trump. He sat with the then-candidate, not to interrogate or even lampoon him, but to perform a brief, cozy skit culminating in Fallon mussing Trump’s hair. The moment was not just a lapse in judgment; it was the ultimate, logical end point of the show’s ideological structure."

Under the sterile blue lights of his studio, Fallon laughs endlessly at the same pseudo-jokes, rubs elbows with Trump and Sam Altman, and ushers in the death of culture.
