1. After surgery on my nose a fortnight ago I am finally off painkillers and able to take short walks.

2. I managed a good job interview early last week despite blocked nose and painkillers. I worked out how to smile with a sore nose. They got back to me late on Friday with an apology and saying they need another week discussing it with team leadership. Hey, this is good. They are still talking to me. It seems to be them, not me. I can sleep easy knowing I have done everything I can possibly done on that one. Even if it doesn't come through I know I interview well.

3. South Africa won the world test cricket championship vs Australia. This is great for South African cricket and great for cricket around the world. It is also good for Australian cricket because it gives them some impetus to getting serious about fixing the top order in the batting line-up.
