Thinking about how much of the information on the environment and economy for my #LangobardRPG is derived from the various works by Chris Wickham, and wondering if i should just be done with it and call that section the "Wicky" 😉

So far @JubalBarca and Crystal -who dropped in briefly- have tried out the character creation, and tested the mechanics:

They met up at the ferry, crossing the river together to take the northern road into the foothills of the Alps. They've sought and found the palisaded settlement of a Langobard freeman called Lanfrit who has welcomed them into his hall.

The #IMC2023 test of #LangobardRPG is set up and underway -going nicely so far!- but would love another player or three 😁

If you want to join, we're having a pause and reconvening at ca. 19:00. Still in the Old Bar, in the alcove by the door to the outside area!

📜🎲✨

The #LangobardRPG play test is still on for Monday at #imc2023 - and I've hopefully at least one player already!

Having tried live recounting a session earlier as a player (see my other thread from earlier) I'm tempted to try it while telling a story too!

The #LangobardRPG playtest last night went very well, here are my two players - Barbara and Fernando at the end of the session, having figured out the whodunnit 😁

We had fun (even if Barbara's dice-rolling is jinxed 😉), and I got some lovely feedback on the #ttrpg game mechanism (and my GMing) and motivation to keep writing it up!

I should also be running a #LangobardRPG playtest in Lleida at the #IMMLEIDA on Sunday 25 June.

We're (provisionally) planning to meet at Cafe Abat at ca. 16:45, and start character creation from 17:00
(I'll update here if location changes)

🎲✨📔🌿

I'm hoping to playtest #LangobardRPG at #IMC2023, Old Bar on Monday 03 July.

Starting character creation at ca. 17:00. Would love to have some players if you're in the area, whether familiar with #ttrpg or not!

Presented a thread at the #MAMG23 conference on fantasy and apocalypses in games yesterday. My papers on incorporating magic from historical sources into a #ttrpg, with a passing mention of my #LangobardRPG.

“How do you incorporate magic & magical elements from historical sources into a #TTRPG - especially when that game is intended to have a pedagogical role? I'll look at this through the early medieval Lombard laws, which I'm (slowly) adapting into the #LangobardRPG #MAMG23 1/12”

Play tested my #LangobardRPG last night with my brother @containerbuoy and nephew, went very well! The #ttrpg had a bit of a supernatural focus, inspired loosely by the early #medieval #LombardLaw of Rothari's on masca and striga (Nos 197-98 & 376), setting our intrepid pair to investigate a mysterious death! I think it went quite well!

Tested out a d10 adaption for the game engine, that I have to admit worked better than my usual d6 one and was more logical, and intuitive too! Great fun!

Proceedings of the third 'the middle ages in modern games' twitter conference is out! Enjoy!
