Shared Impressions: Printmaking from Laney College | SFO Museum

“Shared Impressions” brings together the work of 15 printmaking students at Laney College whose practices reflect the diversity and vitality of Oakland and the greater Bay Area. The prints on view move between abstraction and representation, exploring themes such as identity, place, memory, and social experience. Working across relief, intaglio, and monotype, the artists demonstrate an exploratory spirit that expands the expressive possibilities of the medium.

In effort to save hemorrhaging cash resources #EastBay #Peralta #CommunityCollege district Chancellor announces intent to end separate boards at downtown #Laney campus & hilltop #Merritt colleges to merge into single #Oakland City #College entity .

Part of the problem is Peralta Community College district has fallen short of enrollment targets, has had internal embezzling scandals, and has failed in other key funding criteria to remain solvent, particularly keeping part time students on track to earn valid #degrees and #certificates.

#LaneyCollege, enrolls about 14,400 students. Merritt, enrolls about 11,000 with sister schools #Berkeley City College, and College of #Alameda being left out of consolidation schema. Peralta district enrolls a total of about 32,000 students cumulatively, but issues far less diplomas.
