Got all the plants in the ground and drip irrigation in place, but finished after dark. Pictures hopefully tomorrow!

Got my final plants today from Wild Roots Native Nursery (https://wildrootsnativenursery.com/): Pennsylvania sedge!

Excited to get all these plants in the ground.

And rounded out with a trip to Cottage Garden Natives (https://www.cottagegardennatives.com/) for ebony spleenwort (asplenium platyneuron), partridgeberry (mitchella repens), and one more mountain stonecrop (sedum ternatum) as a backup.

All that’s left to get is the Pennsylvania sedge.

Welp, struck out on getting rue anemone (anemonella thalictroides) at the Woodlands Garden (https://www.woodlandsgarden.org/) plant sale.

They had a synonym for it, thalactricum thalictroides, on the plant list, but actually had meadow rue (thalactricum pubescens).

Woodlands Garden | In every season, a place of cultivated and natural beauty

Picked up 3 woodland asters (eurybia divaricata), a foamflower (tiarella cordifolia), and a great blue lobelia (lobelia siphilitica) at Swallowtail Center (https://www.swallowtailcenter.com/). And got a free bee balm (monarda bradburyana) thrown in!

Fall is around the corner, and it’s about time to execute on the planning and preparation I’ve already done to plant our side steps bed.

These are the plants I plant to purchase.

I finished mapping the sunlight for this year’s side steps planting project a few weeks ago, and today I prepped the beds. The only other thing to do between now and fall planting time is to test the drip irrigation.

I don’t plan on planting our side steps area until next year, but I have some tasks to prepare for that. First among those: mapping the space.
