The Bow River spawns from the Bow Lake, which is located about 100 km north-west of Canmore along the Icefields Parkway. The lake itself fed by the Bow Glacier, which is believed to have been responsible for carving out the Bow Valley during the last major ice age.
Here, we can see sunlight falling on the Cascade #Mountain directly upstream, while the Fairholme Range on the right side of the image.
