A sheep farmer has welcomed the restoration of an internationally significant wetland on his property outside of Hobart. The collaboration of a non-profit organisation with landowners, scientists, the Aboriginal community and governments has allowed the return of a vital ecosystem.
Trees across #MountMacedon have been knocked down after being clear felled, #devastating the local #Landcare group.
“It is just devastating to walk around this area that was a native forest right near the top of Mount Macedon and see trees smashed on the ground for hundreds of metres,” she said.
“This area was home to #wombats and #birds, #wallabies and #echidnas, and now those animals will be struggling to survive.”

Bought a garden cart of the landcare group. Going there I kinda threw it on top of the trailer but it wasn't good and did make the trailer too wide to fit easily through the anti-bicycle barriers along the bike path. So going home I clipped it to the back to the trailer and towed it. #LegalInAustralia
Not shown: the vege shop dumpster dive on the way home so I could get compost. Made the chickens happy :)
