Cuz in #Germany regardless if a business or individual owns land they're on the hook for all the use out of it and the costs of remediation.

And if necessary they'll get it disowned/confiscated & auctioned off and forced to pay restitution if that doesn't cover it.

In fact, the city-state of #Hamburg has a "#Housing Protection Act" ( HmbWoSchG ) that penalizes purposeful vacancy of condos and houses and allows the city-state to disown the landlord, fix up housing units, rerent them and only return the ownership after the owner paid restitutions and the costs to make the housong units liveable...

But maybe that's because the German Constitution literally states: "Ownership comes with responsibilities. [All Property] has to be used for the common good."

I live in Portland, OR, USA with my partner and 2 kids. I met my partner #SwingDancing and #BluesDancing, and I'm hoping to get back to those as the pandemic eases up.

We need denser buildings to free people from driving, #LandTaxes and #WealthTaxes to focus resources on people and projects that need it, and #SystemsThinking to make lasting changes. #TipYourServer to help with that last one.
