Newcastle trains are once again suspended between Fassifern and Newcastle, due to flooding at Cockle Creek. The rain has mostly stopped so it probably won't be out long, I hope.
When we moved in here, the lounge room was dark and dingy in the daytime. So we got a skylight installed and now it's much nicer even on cloudy days.
Fast forward to 150mm rain in 24 hours, much of it heavy rain in the evening, and let me tell you: subtitles are a fine thing!
Nobody tells you when you buy a skylight that you won't be able to hear the TV in heavy rain.
I think we're now at 350mm since 9am Sunday. The rain is mostly just off the coast, so it's quiet here now, at last. Looks like Sydney is copping it hard. Maybe the mid-north coast will get a chance to drain finally.
100mm since 9am. I think that makes it 300mm since Sunday 9am. A bit damp.
Fun times for folk at Dora Creek NSW. BOM shows Dora Creek at Cooranbong up 3.36m, more rain forecast tonight and tomorrow.
"The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to PREPARE TO ISOLATE for up to 2 days due to predictions that the Dora creek may experience flooding and cause isolation in the following streets adjacent to Dora Creek:"

Current status: wet.
From a forecast 30mm, we've had 120mm since 9am yesterday and it's still chundering down. With big thunder. Forecast is for up to 80mm today, up to 70mm tomorrow.
Somewhat glad I got eggs and wine yesterday. Would be a shitty walk today.
Lovely walk into Toronto NSW this morning to pick up some veg. A very parrot day, with corellas on the walk in, a surprise pair of yellow tailed black cockatoos when I got there, loads of raucous rainbow lorikeets and maybe some musks in the flowering gums at Cole's carpark, and gambolling sulphur crested cockatoos when I got home. No photos, just soaked it all in 🙂
So we hit 135mm rain between the 9AMs, the creeks are full, and train services are cut between Newcastle and Fassifern due to flooding at Cockle Creek station.
Beautiful sunshine right now, the world is so shiny after the rains.
It's a bit damp, eh? 100% humidity, 78mm rain since 9am. "Heavy falls possible" – yeah, that did happen. A few times. 💧
