"Lafayette residents in need of shelter and safety ahead of the upcoming ice storm can do so at a warming shelter at the Dupuis Recreation Center, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.

"The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG), the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) and community partners said they are opening the shelter as temperatures in #Acadiana are expected to drop into the single digits starting Monday.

"The warming shelter will remain open through 10 a.m. Jan. 27, providing overnight refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or those without adequate heat as freezing conditions impact #LafayetteParish."
