Today the #NewYorkTimes ran this article (gift link) about a photograph, originally unremarked by the Serious Art Community, that has gone on to earn millions. But the Times only just barely mentioned the use of the photo to promote the Ladies Home Journal. This ad also ran in #TheNewYorker where I downloaded it from the archive (as a paid subscriber!)
