Please support Alamo Drafthouse workers recently laid off by the Sony corp— a cynical move that trashed their past, more cooperative, labor practices with the cinemas’ employees. Unacceptable! Oppose Unjust Layoffs at Alamo Drafthouse
Alamo Drafthouse is forcing unnecessary layoffs throughout the country and at all three unionized New York City and Colorado locations, despite having no financial justification. This has never happened before, and we need your help to stop it! Alamo Drafthouse has always reduced hours in slow months instead of laying off workers. Now, Sony, Alamo’s new corporate owner, is making cuts that violate good faith bargaining. The company’s own data shows that the movie industry is recovering, with the 2025 box office expected to reach 80-90% of 2019’s pre-pandemic record levels. There is no financial crisis forcing these layoffs! Workers would rather take reduced hours than lose their jobs entirely, but management refuses to listen. Why does this matter? Alamo Drafthouse has always projected being different from corporate movie chains. But if these layoffs happen, it’s clear that corporate greed is taking priority over the hardworking staff who make this cinema special. How can you help? Tell Alamo Drafthouse and Sony: NO LAYOFFS! Spread the word! Let others know that these layoffs are unfair and unnecessary. Support the workers! Follow the fight on social media and stand with the employees who make Alamo a great place to see movies. These layoffs aren’t just bad for workers, they’re bad for the entire Alamo Drafthouse experience. Let’s keep Alamo a place that values its people! Stand with Alamo workers. Say NO to layoffs!
