Happy National Lighthouse Day.

Here is the famous La Jument ("the mare") lighthouse in Brittany, Northwestern France and some pics of its construction in 1906-1911.

The famous bottom pic was taken by Jean Guichard from a helicopter in 1989 when lightkeeper Théodore Malgorn stepped out to see the helicopter and quickly ducked in as the ferocious waves engulfed the lighthouse.

Accidentally discovered this 1989 photo series of a keeper of the #LaJument #lighthouse in #Brittany nearly killed by a huge wave, when he mistook the photographer's helicopter for a rescue helicopter and opened the lower door of the lighthouse, unaware that a massive wave was crashing against the opposite side of the structure at that moment
