As a layperson, I find it fascinating how quickly most other non-aviation folks immediately expressed sympathy for the controller, in addition to the pilots who were killed. It's like however ignorant we may be about the technical aspects, we all know damn good and well about budget cuts and corporate greed. In this recent accident, I read that about 40 people (facing forward) were all thrown forward, ripped out of their forward facing seats.
Because they had 2 point seatbelts. I wonder if 3 point types, like in cars might help, next time.

I wonder if the old topic of building passenger jets with the seats facing to the back comes up again.
