C'est fait, le mythique magasin La Baie est fermé. J'avais un attachement particulier pour celui du centre ville de Montréal, même si depuis quelques années, on pouvait constater que la fin s'en venait. La Baie avait déjà fermé ses bannières Zeller's, Déco-Découverte.

J'aurai vu disparaître au cours de ma vie, Dupuis & frères, Eaton, Simpson, Sears, Steinberg, A&P, La Salle et maintenant La Baie, qui à une autre époque portait le nom de Morgan.

Dernièrement, j'apprenais qu'une autre institution plus connu sur la rive-sud de Montréal, plus précisément à Saint-Lambert,Taylor`s a mis la clef dans la porte.

Je me souviens de l'époque où il y avait même une épicerie Steinberg au sous-sol du Morgan (La Baie) au Centre-ville.

Le commerce au détail a grandement changé, surtout ces derniières années. Le commerce en ligne a sans doute des avantages, mais sommes-nous en train de mettre fin à l'importance du contact et de l'intéraction entre humains? À quoi ressemblera le commerce de demain? C'est triste, mais les choses sont comme elles sont, pour le meilleur ou pour le pire.
