Nooooo, of course not!

No, I did not buy seven one-meter Kaffe Fassett/Brandon Mabley fabrics earlier this week.

Such a ridiculous notion!

In between finishing my large quilt and a new cross stitch project, I've also been making new EPP hexagons: basting random bits of scrap fabric (mostly Kaffe Fassett Collection and/or other Free Spirit designers), I now have about 50 hexagons and more coming.

And thanks to a Zine made by @Kiki, I have found a possible new project: a Hex-Map!

How cool!

My second large quilt is finished and in-use on my bed. I had fun making it, posting about it for almost all bigs steps in its creation. Collection these posts into a blogpost is mostly for my own archive, but why not share, right?

Story of a Quilt - Stukkie-Bij

Skimming through my old blog, deleting most posts, but saving some. Travel tips for Vienna, Berlin and Paris.

Waiting for its name label and a short turn in the washing machine, but I consider this quilt finished!

Meet "Stukkie-Bij", the quilt I started on my first sewing machine towards the end of 2024 and finished this week on my (new) current sewing machine. After I decided to adjust the initial design (I almost had a finished quilt top!), I added new rows to the main blocks which my carpenter grandfather would have called a "stukkie bij".

I've found the Trip Around The World block a fun but fiddly block to make, and I love the secondary designs you can create when playing around with colors and fabrics designs.

A next quilt is not yet planned, but I have ideas running around in my head.

Do you have a favorite (geometric) quilt block?

I'm at the stage where it feels as if this quilt has five corners, not four.

I know I'm over halfway through stitching the facing, but it feels like I have only jus started and I still have five corners to round.

Time to add the binding, and because I am using the fabric from the backing which is not used anywhere on the front, this will not really be a binding, but more of a facing finish.

Eight meters to sew on with the machine, then eight meters to sew down by hand.

Still need to make the quilt's label, and I think I've found this quilt's name.

.... All this time I wondered why it was suddenly so warm: is it the weather or am I having a hot flush?

No, Leonieke, it's simply because almost half of the quilt sandwich is on your lap, keeping you nice and toasty warm.

I am about half way with all my running stitches and while I love this part of making a quilt, I'm ready for the next step: making about 8 meters of binding
