Geburtstag von L. Sprague de Camp (1907-2000)

Ich mag besonders sein amüsantes und unkonventionelles Sachbuch über Städte der Antike. Weltbürger, der er war, hatte er sämtliche Ausgrabungsstätten auch selbst besucht und brachte immer wieder eigene Anschauung und Interpretation ein. Laut zeitgenössischen Historikern hat er dabei erstaunlicherweise nie wirklich falsch gelegen. Sehr anregende Lektüre - allerdings in grässlicher deutscher Übersetzung.
