There could be a server compatible with Mastodon but that would also spit out satoshis to people in other servers when messages were sent or liked or read or other condition. This would work seamlessly with #lnurlpay endpoints on each server in a world in which HTTPS is already the norm.

You could run your own server or be a client of some server-custodian somewhere else.

Of course this won't ever work, but it is an idea for anyone willing to make a "Lightning-powered Twitter".
