I've just released v0.3.9 of my WIP agenda/calendar application "Pygenda". It's based on #Psion #PDA Agenda apps and designed to run on keyboard #LinuxMobile devices like Planet Computers' #GeminiPDA & #CosmoCommunicator. Written in Python/GTK, it also works on Linux desktop & possibly other desktops too.

Docs/source here: https://codeberg.org/semiprime/pygenda

Lots of changes since the last release, but mostly subtle things. Testing/feedback welcome.

pygenda

An agenda application inspired by Agenda programs on Psion PDAs, written in Python/GTK. Targeting Planet Computers' Gemini PDA and Cosmo Communicator (running Linux) in particular, but should work on similar devices (after providing a user CSS file to set font sizes etc.).

Progress update on Principia touch support: All TMS_BACKEND_PC (and _MOBILE) compile-time ifdefs that primarily gated touch code exclusive to Android are now completely gone!

Now your experience on touchscreen Linux devices should be about on par with the Android version of Principia when you tick "Enable touch controls" in the settings. This also goes well with the new `use_gles` in settings.ini to switch to OpenGL ES without recompiling!

New release coming soon but I would appreciate if people could also build and test master to see if I've missed anything (we've also upgraded to #SDL3 so plenty that can go wrong). I should hopefully also try to get Principia packaged in #AlpineLinux in time for the next release. You know where I'm going with this! :) (ooo... #postmarketOS ...)

@joergi @clero @Oleksii An Android or iOS device is not needed to run #SignalDesktop on #LinuxPhones, even if registering a brand new account. #SignalCli works great as the primary device, either on your desktop or on your Linux phone itself. It is available from #Flathub and from Alpine / pmOS repos.

I think you can also use Flare as the primary device, but the option was hidden in the UI last I checked.

@davidmaddock Cool!

For full disclosure, I should mention that I still run GrapheneOS as my daily driver phone.

My PinePhone journey is very early:

I am the current target audience for the PinePhone - a full time professional software developer.

And I am still deciding what packages I will need to hand compile and test, and hopefully contribute back to the community - to get to a dialy workflow that works for me.

There's so much great Linux software, but I suspect that very little of it has been tested on phone hardware.

But if you have questions about ny experiences with either GrapheneOS or PinePhone, feel free to ask!

@EdTheDev I have a PinePhone but haven't used it in a while. Because of work I've been using GrapheneOS. The pine was too slow, but I might get postmarketOS installed and give it another try. #linuxmobile #postmarketos
