Please urgently upgrade to Liferea 1.16.11 or 2.0-RC3 if you are using Reedah or TheOldReader sync! Sadly older versions have a security bug where one API request is done per http:// exposing your Reedah / TheOldReader auth token.

Today I'm proud 😁 to have migrated 70% of my active Github repos to codeberg.org. I did not touch the #liferea repository yet, because I want to get some experience with codeberg first and avoid breaking stuff for maintainers and need some more time about whether expensive build actions are justified on codeberg.org.

When migration the repos I also dropped several Github actions. While they were nice for enforcing testing and auto-running build I do not think it is justified to run stuff in the cloud when it can run as a pre-commit hook. 🌱

A new important discovery feature has landed in the #liferea code base to be released with 1.16.8 soon: blogroll support. Liferea will try to find <source:blogroll> tags in the feed or a <link rel="blogroll"> tag from the homepage HTML. It will display the blogroll as a list in the feed view. This way you can learn whom others are following.

Have a blog and an OPML file? Ensure to link it so that feed readers and other clients (browser extensions) can find it!

After handing in my master thesis in philosophy last week I now found time to restart work on the GTK4 port of Liferea. Today I've finished the plugin preferences.

While the large GtkSwitches clash somewhat with the old style tabbing, it works properly.

Not sure if this is something that one should declare nowadays: I will not allow vibe-coding on the code base of #rss feed reader #liferea.

I believe FOSS will actually be the vibe-coding safe space of the future. Of course in the sense that it will be avoided as much as possible.
