Survey, so as usual possible caveats. Still, I get a feel all those #librarians who should know better rushing to be #cogsuckers may be in a precarious position. Same for #academia and #HigherEd

99 Percent of CEOs Are Preparing to Lay Off Workers and Replace Them With AI Within Two Years, Survey Finds

A new survey of 1,000 executives found that 99 percent plan on laying workers off over the next two years to make room for AI.

Futurism

One of the advantages of digital tech is the ease of indexing and cross-referencing data. How did/do people organize info that's on paper/in notebooks or files? What secrets to info experts like librarians use to make sure that everything is easy to find in the absence of search engines and metadata?

On Being a Librarian: AI in Public Libraries: Useful, But Only If We Stay in Charge. “AI can be useful in public libraries when we treat it as a tool, not an authority. In Ontario, where public libraries must take privacy seriously under MFIPPA, the ethical question is not ‘Can AI do this?’ but ‘Should we use it, and under what safeguards?'”

On a side note, I watched a webinar on AI in information literacy and #libraries this morning, and the amount of #librarians who should know better capitulating to becoming #sloperators and #cogsuckers is a bit sickening TBH.

But that is another story. . .

Whether they're doing storytime, teaching classes, or discovering new books to add to their collections, librarians always work overtime. In short, librarians rock. Here is just a handful of reasons how and why: https://action.everylibrary.org/eleven_reasons_why_librarians_rock
