I feel like I am finally over the first hump of morse code after about a week of practice. I definitely don't have instant character recognition, but I know the alphabet and am quickly adding letters to the lessons on #LCWO at 8WPM any copying the gibberish with 90% accuracy, and doing some real text at 5wpm (both farnsworth 20wpm keying)

I didn't realize if you save the WPM change in your profile it gives you shorter text. That was probably my biggest problem they were soooo long when I slowed it down manually each time.

#CW100days
As I only receive QRM on the HF bands this evening, I had a short #LCWO session.
16 to 20 WPM (and a bit @23WPM).

Using lesson 40 (all chars, numbers, punctuation and prosigns)

I didn't write down or type anything.
After so much head copy training, I know instantly if my head copy is correct or not.

Prosigns and punctuation come much more often in the exercises than in the real QSO phrases I practice on my phone.
Clearly, I have to refresh my "instant recognition" in this area !

Eviscerating a mouse is harder than I expected. I'm making an interface from my #morsekey to USB for transmit sending in #lcwo on my laptop.
I'll have a little rest before attempting to solder a lead across the the left button switch.

#CW100days well, not a hundred but getting there.

#lcwo call sign training feature is hard.

25 WPM fixed speed. Dot to repeat is good. Worked ok with word training but screaming halt on call signs.

#CW100days
Did some Ditto #CW on my phone in the tramway this evening.

The previous days, I went back to #LCWO (thanks again Fabian, @dj5cw 🙂)
As is usual for me now my limitation is hitting the wrong keys on the keyboard and finally loosing track.

I mostly try to copy on the air (still very clumsy antenna setup here + heavy QRM).
I mostly receive the "kW big guns" in contest mode : very fast.
I only copy groups of letters, but now, to my ears it doesn't sound anymore like modulated noise!

Learn CW Online (https://lcwo.net/) is now also available in #Slovak 🇸🇰 language (the 34th interface language). Thanks to Matúš, OM8ATE for the translation! #hamradio #morsecode #lcwo

Learn CW Online - a free web app for learning Morse code!

#morse
The excellent #lcwo has a sending training feature using the keyboard space-bar.

Does anyone know of something similar but using actual key.

You know what, it's a #HamRadio rant kind of day.

I get the feeling that learning code (and I'll be calling it "code" not "CW" since that's already an in-use term here) is going to be one of those things that falls into the "impossible because your genetics says fuck you" category.

I'll start with some other examples... well, two to get the point across.

  • I cannot riffle shuffle cards. Like, I literally cannot, my hands are the wrong proportions.
  • I cannot play any flight simulators with a yoke, it has to be throttle and stick. It's impossible for me to mentally separate out orthogonal actions to non-orthogonal movements, one will inevitably be paused while the other is in progress. Or in other words: since "roll" and "pitch" are not completely distinct movements, I cannot perform both at once. (It's also because I can't get both hands to coordinate actions, there's always a primay on which the secondary lags behind, but that's besides it)

Struggling with #lcwo trying to get my code speed to a practical level. Sometimes getting frustrated and thinking: isn't this supposed to be fun? But I guess the challenge is what keeps me going. #cw

Well, I increased the character speed to "25 wpm" and decreased the effective speed to "10 wpm". Seems to have done the trick. I just couldn't keep up with how quick the character groups were coming at me. We'll see how well this goes moving forward.
