California Thrasher has a remarkable voice, filling canyons with an ever-changing repertoire, mimicking other birds very convincingly with startling volume. #Thrasher #CaliforniaThrasher #photography #birds #birders #BirdWatching #BirdWatchers #California #LosAngeles #BirdPhoto #GriffithPark #DailyBird #BirdsOfPixelfed #BirdADay #DailyBird #BirdOfTheDay #LARiver #LosAngelesRiver #BirdsOfMastodon #cute #NaturePhotos
Acorn Woodpecker is surprised - vexed, even! - that you didn’t know about their polygynandrous breeding collectives, wherein several adult males and several adult females collectively share the work of raising the young. This particular A.W. P.B.C. is inside a telephone pole. #AcornWoodpecker #Woodpecker #Polygynandry #photography #birds #birders #BirdWatching #BirdWatchers #California #LosAngeles #BirdPhoto #GriffithPark #DailyBird #BirdsOfPixelfed #BirdADay #DailyBird #BirdOfTheDay #LARiver #LosAngelesRiver #BirdsOfMastodon #cute #NaturePhotos #LAWildlife #Polygamy #Polygynandry
My gateway to bird photography: in 2021 a pair of Cooper’s Hawks built a nest in the yard and raised a chick, which rapidly morphed from a cute ball of cottony fluff into a skillful apex predator. Here he is somewhere in-between. Nicknamed “Anderson Cooper’s Hawk” (parents: Sadie Hawkins and Agent Cooper) quickly grew indifferent to the human who regularly pointed a 2013-era camera at him. #hawk #CoopersHawk #GatewayBird #photography #birds #birders #BirdWatching #BirdWatchers #California #LosAngeles #BirdPhoto #GriffithPark #DailyBird #BirdsOfPixelfed #BirdADay #DailyBird #BirdOfTheDay #LARiver #LosAngelesRiver #Opus1000 #BirdsOfMastodon #cute #NaturePhotos #LAWildlife
Northern Flicker is one of the few woodpeckers to migrate, which makes seeing one a special thrill. Also, it helps that they’re drop-dead gorgeous. #Flicker #NorthernFlicker #photography #birds #birders #BirdWatching #BirdWatchers #California #LosAngeles #BirdPhoto #GriffithPark #DailyBird #BirdsOfPixelfed #BirdADay #DailyBird #BirdOfTheDay #LARiver #LosAngelesRiver #BirdsOfMastodon #cute #NaturePhotos
Cedar Waxwing has a screeee call that is so high in pitch, many people cannot hear it; but if you can, it’s always worthwhile to look up. #waxwing #CedarWaxwing #photography #birds #birders #BirdWatching #BirdWatchers #California #LosAngeles #BirdPhoto #GriffithPark #DailyBird #BirdsOfPixelfed #BirdADay #DailyBird #BirdOfTheDay #LARiver #LosAngelesRiver #BirdsOfMastodon #cute #NaturePhotos
