Deadly car crash at Westwood grocery store kills 3, injures 6 in LA

Battalion Chief Kenneth Cook's email adds to the growing evidence that city and LAFD officials attempted to burnish the LAFD’s image in a report that was meant to be an honest assessment of the department’s failings in preparing for and fighting the fire.
Shore power was turned off. All LAFD and LAPD personnel are off of the vessel. "We are ready to cast off." There will be water kept on the stricken container ship.
They will move it into the basin, where they will turn it around, then move it to where they intend to anchor it. After that, it's rotating teams from LAFD and Long Beach dealing with a still-burning vessel.
LAFD is preparing to move the burning container ship. Or, as they put it, "get that thing out of here." In about 20 minutes they should be underway. The guy who was there to shut the power is on the bridge (with an escort and wearing a respirator - "We don't want anybody breathing that stuff).
They are going to escort the burning container ship out of port with tugs.
"It should be a lengthy operation."
There are a LOT of containers on that ship, and 75-100 are destroyed or damaged already. The fire department tried, but failed, to get it under control.
I think I win the pool for whether or not it has lithium-ion batteries onboard.
It sounds like the container vessel will be "put out to sea." The fleet will move it. There are several operations going on. I think that was what they said.
The captain is estimating 75-100 containers involved in the fire, or damaged, on the container ship that caught fire in its hold.

#LAFD knew of firefighter complaints about Lachman mop-up and said nothing

At least one LAFD official knew that a battalion chief had directed firefighters to leave the scene of the Lachman fire Jan. 2, even though they complained the ground was still smoking in places and rocks remained hot to the touch, according to a source.
