Il Fatto Quotidiano: Commerciante d’armi italiano arrestato negli Usa: “Vendeva illegalmente munizioni alla Russia”
Ha esportato illegalmente 540mila dollari in munizioni verso la Russia. Con questa accusa Manfred Gruber, commerciante d’armi altoatesino, è stato arrestato negli Stati Uniti e risulta adesso detenuto in un carcere federale americano. L’uomo, secondo le indagini, in violazione di tutti i divieti imposti dalle sanzioni contro la Federazione dopo l’invasione dell’Ucraina e, di conseguenza, delle leggi nazionali, aveva messo in piedi la classica triangolazione grazie alla quale le munizioni passavano per il Kirghizistan e finivano poi in Russia.
Nella prima udienza del processo a suo carico, l’uomo si è dichiarato colpevole, come riporta il Dipartimento di Giustizia americano, dopo che il suo probabile socio in affari kirghizo, a gennaio, era già stato condannato per la stessa accusa a 39 mesi di carcere. “Manfred Gruber ha messo a rischio numerose vite fornendo illegalmente alla Russia munizioni di fabbricazione americana e di tipo militare per un valore di centinaia di migliaia di dollari, al fine di sostenerne l’offensiva bellica in Ucraina“, ha spiegato Roman Rozhavsky, vicedirettore della Divisione spionaggio e controspionaggio dell’Fbi.

He illegally exported $540,000 worth of ammunition to Russia. With this charge, Manfred Gruber, an Austrian arms dealer, was arrested in the United States and is now being held in a federal American prison. The man, according to the investigation, violated all bans imposed by sanctions against the Federation after the invasion of Ukraine and, consequently, national laws, had set up the classic triangulation through which the ammunition passed through Kyrgyzstan and then ended up in Russia.
At the first hearing of the trial against him, the man pleaded guilty, as reported by the American Department of Justice, after his likely Kyrgyz business partner had already been sentenced to 39 months in prison for the same charge in January. “Manfred Gruber put numerous lives at risk by illegally providing Russia with American and military-type ammunition worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, in order to support its war offensive in Ukraine,” explained Roman Rozhavsky, Vice-Director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division.
