Kumihimo braiding on my Marudai. Playing with texture, a 16-strand braid with soft thick cream bamboo (8 strands) and thinner cream shiny wrapped cotton/acrylic/nylon (8 strands).
This braid is... the third attempt at a necklace cord for a necklace for my sister. And I am STILL not satisfied.
What I *want* is a cream-coloured braid (to go with a carved bone pendant) which is purely cream, no other colours, and which has contrasting texture through it, caused by a mixture of thick strands and thin strands.
Attempt 1: the thin strands were too beige, not cream.
Attempt 2: the entire braid was too thick; it might work as a choker, but not a necklace with a pendant.
Attempt 3: the braid has a nice thickness, but not enough texture contrast.
Part of me says "Stop! The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good!" and the other part of me says "I will not stop until I get it RIGHT! Otherwise I will look at it and only see how WRONG it is."
