The final day of our cruise saw us disembark at Krung Thep (or Bangkok to us) where we would enjoy a debark tour of the city, some time in a hotel to freshen up, a bit of free time and a meal, then a drive to the airport for a midnight flight home. The tour included a river boat ride and, prior to that, a visit to some temple complexes, the second of which was Wat Phra Kaew, regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. There were some impressive buildings here, as you can see.

We were on the last plane out before armed members of a political group took over the airport and closed it down - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Thai_political_crisis#Airport_seizures - and had we not made it on that flight then we'd have been stuck in the terminal there for 8 days.
