He still has all his fingers : wood carver Norbert Danler (from Ellbögen) showing his masks (tyrolean ‘larven’) – resp. spring , summer , autumn , winter, in his little shop in Igls , Tyrol , Austria, Jan 6, 2013. Different summer masks for different towns.
Masks used in Krampus runs (Krampuslaufen) and the village carnivals (Fasching , Fasnacht) around Innsbruck.
His workshop in Ellbögen and this little shop in Igls, are both along the Via Tirolensis, along the pilgrimage routes St James Way (Jakobsweg , Camino de Santiago) and the Via Romea Germanica running between Innsbruck and Brenner on the Italian border.
