Aulia MasnaBlock was short lived. Apparently it was indeed part of the war against online gambling because there are so many site redirects by gambling site operators using WordPress.
After including the WordPress domain on the blocklist yesterday, the Kominfo team must have realized they blocked way more than what they wanted and lifted it within the past hour.
So this happened. Indonesia just banned WordPress. The Communications Ministry hasn’t provided a reason.

Indonesia just banned WordPress. No reason given but DuckDuckGo was banned since last month for refusing to censor search queries related to porn and online gambling. The trustpositif website is the country’s web address block list database managed by the Communications and Informatics Ministry. tip @techmeme
I don’t use Google for search, the results are trash and it’s a fucking maze to look for shit. This means I gotta switch my default search engine when I’m not on VPN. DDG uses Bing, so … maybe?

Two years ago when Indonesia was bombarded by data theft by a hacker known as Bjorka, to the point that it became a household name that year, the Communications Ministry’s Director General of Apps and Informatics, Semmy Pangerapan, made a despondent plea asking hackers to not attack the country if they can help it because the victims are regular people.
The plea was made after Bjorka managed to obtain 1.3 billion Indonesian SIM card data which included names, addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers, and more.
