Setting the rules

Everybody has to deal with rules. Some as strict as the law. Some are rules set by parents, schools, employers, and even friends and other family. There are the written and unwritten once, the variables between different sets of people and circumstances. But the rules I am writing about at this moment, they are the rules for my (new) dog. 🐾 Every dog has his/her own personality. They all have things they love to do, hate to do, are great or bad at doing... But, a dog's life also means that he usually lives with people. And those people have rules, expectations, and things they love or hate to do. And, when we take on the responsibility of living with a dog, caring for a dog, loving a dog... It also means we are setting rules and boundaries for that dog, so that they will hopefully grow up to be the best companion we could ever wish for. […]

Koa’s last family (puppy) outing 🐾

On Wednesday, April 22nd 2026, the day had finally arrived! Both Koa and his brother Pumbaa were going to their new fur-ever homes that day. 🥰 But, before it was time to sign the papers, and to pay the bills 😉, Joke had scheduled a special outing for the pups, and their new owners (as they were needed to support the pups during the outing). We went to a home for the elderly, that's about one kilometer away from where Joke lives. She had a cart with a crate on it, Stefan was young and strong, so he pulled the cart to the care home (and back again). It was a bit of a hike for my mum, but she made it there, and also back again, and she did the best to support the pups and Joke. The pups had a great time, I think most of the elderly loved it, and it was so good to see their joy, and to share in it. ❤️ […]

Busy days… 🐾

I don't usually get a lot of visitors. Sometimes, I do miss that a bit, as it can be a bit lonely to be on my own at times... But, when this post goes live (I started writing on it a few days ago), I won't be alone anymore! ❤️ I'll have my hands full with my new choccy love, Koa, who will have joined me in my litle home on Wednesday, April 22nd. But, as I write this part on Monday, April 20th, Koa isn't here yet, and I'm still worried about forgetting anything that I should be doing to prepare for him... As these busy days are all about getting ready for Koa. And then, getting used to him, and he to me. Finding our ways together. And then... People will start visiting us. It’s Koa time! 🥳

It's been a while now... First, the big tragedy of losing Arwen so suddenly. Getting on the waiting list for a new puppy. While still crying every day over Arwen, I also wanted to prepare myself for a new choccy love. It would take a few months before the mum-to-be would come in heat, so I had time to mourn. To deal with my grief and emotions. To make a little memorial spot for Arwen. On Xmas came the big news. It was time for Gentle to have her dates with Mats. A real Christmas 🎄 present... And then, the next part of the wait began... A month until the ultrasound. And then about 4-5 more weeks till the birth. And on February 25th, exactly two months since the first date, Gentle gave birth. And then came the sad news... The second gall, which would have been my gall, she didn't make it... 😢 I grieved again for a gall I never knew. But, there was a silver lining, as there was one boy available. So, eager for a new furry love, I prepared myself for a boy puppy... 🐾 […]

With just one more week to go, the big dog bed has slowly been filling up with several dog toys. Hopefully, these will capture Koa's attention, hoping he will be more interested in biting in these, than in my things (when I am not paying attention for a second or so... they can be so fast!).
