#Knave2e by #BenMilton, aka #QuestingBeast, arrived in the mail today. It's a beautiful book and I am looking forward to running games of it for family and friends.
Ben's done a good job of writing a concise fantasy #RPG rules set and packaged it in a product that contains tools, is organized, and is laid out in such a way as to be useful both in game prep and on-the-fly at the gaming table.
The #PeterMullen art throughout ties everything together beautifully.
also, just so you know, this worldbuilding is not for #5e #dnd, I just know that I'm going to pitch #Knave as "like a more streamlined D&D.
#KnaveRPG does not have playable races, but to me it's not D&D without at least dwarves, elves, and hobbitses. So I will be homebrewing some very light rules for playing as a dwarf or hobbit, which will mostly take the form of little conveniences like knowing when the floor is sloping etc.
@BigJackBrass @mhd There seem to be a lot of systems these days, Fate as already mentioned, but also Index Card RPG, Knave, Savage World's and others that market themselves as tool kits to be built on, modded, and have bits taken from, so I would say hacking game mechanics is more of a thing now than ever.
Even more so with so many people making their own indie RPGs now.

With the original being an amazingly clear 7 pages, I'm not sold on the idea of Knave expanding to a hardcover book. But it will probably be excellent.
