So ACT is pushing to mimic UK erosion of quality and safety of NZ healthcare, by squeezing Kiwi pharmacists to do parts of GP jobs.

It may sound palatable to the naive, but pharnacist training is not GP training and in reality pressure incrementally increases to do inappropriate tasks, escalating patient risks.

Why might ACT be pushing for it? Well, ACT peddles anti-immigration sentiment and this deters overseas well-trained GPs from coming to save services in NZ. Getting GPs to NZ is a massive struggle at present.

So here come dubious alternatives ... which also happen to be pathways to ringfencing pharmacy and GP services so they are run mainly/only by big corporates, endlessly escalating obscene profits. Pharmacists who resist performing tasks beyond their training, for legitimate reasons, end up being sidelined from the profession and their contracts and services go to the corporates, profits often leaking to overseas. Smaller practices close, some merging under one corporate roof, meaning many patients have to travel further for services.

Just like with Farage's suggestions in the UK, it is likely that grotesque US corporate profiteers are secretly behind it. Be suspicious of the spin. It is a game of demolition.

Côté écriture #Il existe autant de processus d’écriture que d’écrivain·es, et ça fait partie des raisons pour lesquelles les conseils d’écriture qui se classent dans la catégorie des processus m’ont toujours un peu hérissé le poil. Des assertions comme « Il faut écrire un peu tous les jours. » ou « Il faut commencer par les scènes les plus importantes. » n’ont tout simplement pas de sens. « Il faut… » surtout trouver la méthode qui convient à soi pour aller jusqu’au bout de l’écriture d’un foutu roman sans abandonner en cours de route. Alors j’ai toujours préféré introduire mes pratiques en disant plutôt : « Voilà ce qui fonctionne pour moi » et laisser celles et ceux qui me lisent s’en inspirer ou non.

Côté écriture #La correction de l’Enfant des Esprits est encore loin d’être finie, mais elle avance. La plupart des notes concernent seulement des tournures de phrases à modifier, des expressions inutiles à retirer… Mais d’autres notes sont un peu plus difficiles à traiter, car il s’agit de donner un peu plus de profondeur à l’univers, ou de corriger de légères incohérences qui avaient échappées à toutes les lectures beta-lectures jusque-là. Mon dernier exemple en date, décrire un jeu de société avec davantage de détails plutôt que de simplement dire que les personnages essaient un jeu.
