Plants are weird.

The butternut pumpkin seeds I planted in individual pots, in speciallised seed starting mix, and placed in the perfect position for optimal light and warmth, and watered (but not overwateted) diligently to ensure the absolute best opportunity for them to germinate: Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero germination.

The extra butternut pumpkin seeds that I had, that I figured I'd just experiment with, and unceremoniously chucked in shallow dry dirt-holes along the weed-filled fenceline of our garden, and then just left to their own devices: Fucking up on time and thriving.

Like, what the heck? I dunno why we bother with all this seedling molly-coddling sometimes, when those little buggers are just gonna do what they do without our input anyway.

Husband and I always joke that when the news of the world is scary and depressing, we deal with it by creating yet another raised bed and growing more vegetables. And since the orange shit goblin and his ilk might be around for at least another few years then we've def got plans for a few more beds.

Yes I took this picture at 9 in the evening, cause thats when we finished it. And the metal re-bar is to keep the local cats off cause then its not so easy to use as a giant litterbox.
