As I am approaching functional parity with my 1.0 code, I am noticing that I am able to reduce the number of lines of code of each module. Both versions use #QML but 2.0 uses #KDE #Kirigami which reduces the amount of boilerplate code needed for each function.
And yes, I have noticed that 2.0 runs much faster (especially in old hardware) compared to 1.0.

I'm facing a slight problem with my project.

#QT / #Kirigami doesn't show properly outside of KDE Plasma, I need to figure it out before I can think about a new release of Apollo.

QT doesn't look proper outside of Plasma

When running Apollo outside of KDE Plasma, the look is wrong.

Tried to test to see what happens with a global menubar, discovered Qt Quick does not make a window's menubar into the global menubar by default. But I've seen Qt Quick applications do it, so it must be possible. But how…?

#KDE #Kirigami programmers: Is having a MenuBar that turns into a GlobalDrawer if the window is too narrow for it Not HIG? If it's OK is there an established way to do it in Kirigami? Relatedly, can I detect if a MenuBar is being shown as the global menubar somehow? It would obviously be silly if making the window narrower causes the global menubar to become empty…

(Asked in the Matrix room also.)

Using origami for engineering and design: "it can be difficult to scale up origami-based designs and also to use them with materials that aren't paper – which is extremely forgiving even after being folded and re-folded many times. ... "Origami still isn't commonly used yet in real engineering applications," says Schenk. But that could be changing."

As for real origami, Mark Schenk "has little interest in making paper origami models. "My mother, funnily enough, is very good at it.""

Graticuluous!

A modular #kirigami model that uses stereographic projections of the quadrangles on a 30° graticule. More than a little graticulous.

Scherenschnitt
