Thomas Frans 🇺🇦Finally watched Your Name on a TV with decent sound. I still can't believe how beautiful that movie is. The level of detail in every scene, the backgrounds, the ambient sounds, the saturated yet believable colors (especially in the scenes on the mountain) and of course all the music.
I feel like you can pause the movie 99% of the time and have a beautiful computer wallpaper.

Anime Animals アニメの動物I read #YumiAndTheNightmarePainter over several flights during my Japan trip.
#BrandonSanderson wrote this anime-inspired Korea/Japan-like setting romance novel during the Covid days. It's got #BodySwap shenanigans like #YourName, but in a sci-fi /fantasy setting. The romance plot and focus on fantasy jobs was inspired by #FinalFantasyX.
Unfortunately, even if it's a standalone novel, it requires understanding the basics of Hoid and the #Cosmere to understand the full context, so not a good first book of his to start with.

Even with its flaws, Your name just works so well as a cinematic experience about the ways fates and lives can cross each other in the least expected ways. The way time and space bend around one another, causing ripples that bounce back and create further changes, is elegantly illustrated in Shinkai’s direction, as well as the landscapes of Tokyo and the countryside he creates. The plot loses some of its luster in the last third, but still comes to a compelling conclusion that lives the best to come.
