The Ontario government has quietly given itself the power to override archaeological protections on development sites.

It's a shift that, for the first time, places millennia-old Indigenous history under direct political control & raises the alarm among experts & First Nations that cultural & burial sites could be erased in the name of economic growth.

Ontario breaks new ground by letting politicians decide when history will be protected | CBC News

In Ontario, where ancient Indigenous burial grounds and village sites lie beneath rapidly expanding suburbs, the government has granted itself powers to bypass archaeological protections, raising fears that centuries of history could be lost with the stroke of a minister’s pen.

If you're in Toronto, feel free to follow us to see what we're up to. If you're in Toronto-St. Paul's, we're your local Greens!

There's no election any time soon, but that doesn't mean we can't build up our forces to stand up for Ontario and Canada in the mean time. With Doug Ford and Mark Carney using legislation to push projects, we're fighting to make sure the right projects get built.

In Ontario, we can start by killing Bill 5: https://gpo.ca/2025/06/03/ontario-greens-leader-mike-schreiner-calls-on-ford-government-to-listen-to-ontarians-kill-bill-5/

I was at the #KillBill5 rally in Hamilton today. Love the energy.

Spent today at Queen's Park protesting against Bill 5. The protests were large enough for pigs to arrest folks but they weren't given any media coverage.

At least plenty of folks saw from the QP Canada Day event.

Bill 5 is bad law and worse policy. Repeal it and start from scratch.

A year after the Eagle mine failure, questions remain about Yukon's mining future | CBC News

The catastrophic slide at Yukon's Eagle gold mine in June 2024 gave another black eye to the territory's mining industry, which has seen its share of large and costly mine failures over the years.

@Gigi For those in need of context, that's one of the regular TPS liasons, assigned to yesterday's protest in support of Congo and Sudan, shortly after the rally wrapped up at the #KillBill5 encampment at Queen's Park. Scooties spent about 20 minutes stalking and harassing their favorite targets before running off and hiding behind the cops to share what they must laughably consider "intel". ("These hooligans were mean to me! You must awwest them!")
I'm wondering when TPS will finally realize what a waste of their time these goofs are; they truly haven't got a single fucking clue.
