Khronos OpenCL Working Group가 OpenCL 3.1을 발표하며, SPIR-V 커널의 필수 지원을 포함해 여러 기능을 코어 사양에 통합했다. 이는 SYCL, chipStar 등 고급 언어 및 프레임워크가 OpenCL을 안정적으로 런타임으로 활용할 수 있게 하며, HPC와 AI 워크로드에 필요한 서브그룹, 정수 도트 프로덕트, 로컬 워크그룹 크기 힌트 등도 포함된다. 또한, 개발 편의성을 높이는 printf 개선, 메모리 모델 완화, 이벤트 동기화 간소화 등도 도입되었다. 다양한 벤더와 오픈소스 구현체가 이미 OpenCL 3.1을 지원 중이며, 향후 커맨드 버퍼, 통합 공유 메모리, 협력 행렬 연산 등 확장 기능도 예정되어 있다.

💡 A nice bonus of the latest Blender 5.1.1 sub minor version update is that it now supports Vulkan on my ThinkPad laptop with integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics... and maybe yours too ✌😄

FYI - The latest Intel Graphics Driver for the 8th Gen chipset in my laptop was released back in Dec 2025 - 31.0.101.2140 with Vulkan 1.3.215 support.
