Happy St Keyne’s Day!

There are various legends associated with dragons and serpents in Somerset. The legendary St Keyne is said to have turned snakes to stone in Keynsham. This was a way of explaining the ammonites found in the area and Keyne may have lent her name to the town.

I knew my quick journey to work was too good to be true. They’ve closed the westbound #Keynsham bypass near #Bath due to an accident. Traffic is queued up through #Saltford to the Globe roundabout. Expect delays of up to an hour. 🚨

I've been to a very interesting talk tonight by the #Bristol Industrial Archaeology Society (BIAS), in #Keynsham.
A bit more modern 'archaeology' than most; tonight's talk is about The Nuclear Ship Savannah, an "Atoms for Peace" project, to build a nuclear powered civilian cargo ship, in the 1950s, as a technology showcase.

The speaker, Tony Coverdale, certainly knows his stuff. Lots of (relatively simple?) physics about the reactor and propulsion system.
