This is the photo that led me to misidentify the couple that Jack and Mary are with on their visit to the north of England in 1950. The handwritten caption on the back reads simply, "17 August 1950. Mrs Stanley, 63 Wordsworth St, Keswick".

Having now found another photograph with the man seen here named as Eric Henderson, so I'm now guessing that Mrs Stanley is the proprietor of the guest house they were staying in... perhaps?

I did check on Ancestry for some clues about Mrs Stanley and found a Stanley family living at number 36, just over the road, but that house looks different to the one in this photo - looking at Street View this is definitely number 63!

The British Newspaper Archive also shows that a number of other properties in Wordsworth Street were used as let accommodation. One result, the Newcastle Journal and North Mail dated January 1940, is even for a furnished bedroom and sitting room to let - at 63 Wordsworth Street! The proprietor at the time was Batey.
