Update from Sequoia NF:
500 acres plus, 0% containment
The Fay fire broke out on Tuesday, July 15, at approximately 3:16 pm off of Fay Ranch Road, seven miles east of Kernville. This was an Interagency response between the U.S. Forest Service Sequoia National Forest, Kern County Fire Department CAL FIRE , and Bureau of Land Management Fire .
The fire started on state land and quickly progressed toward federal land. As the fire has gained elevation from grassy and brushy fuels, the fuels have shifted to timber understory.
Currently, an evacuation warning is in place for KRN 769-A and KRN 768.
There are approximately 250 personnel currently on the scene for night operations, with helicopters and bulldozers in place.
