I rewatched Bob Burnett’s wonderful short (25 min) film about Keith Rowe today, ‘What is Man & What is Guitar?’. It’s inspirational & life-affirming, but also quite heartbreaking. I doubt I could love his ideas & his music any more.

If you’re interested in notions of music & art, & how one person has navigated his unique & singular lifetime through it all, it’s well worth your time.

I love AMM’s music, but this album is really special to me because I was at the concert in Glasgow where it was recorded, nearly 25 years ago. I remember sitting on the floor in a large white space in the McLellan Galleries, with the music existing and then not existing in the air around us.

I rewatched Bob Burnett’s insightful and very moving short documentary about Keith Rowe this afternoon: ‘What Is Man and What Is Guitar?: Keith Rowe’. If you’ve not seen it, I recommend it; it’s only 25 minutes long.

As time advances inexorably, it feels even more important to capture the moments that matter—in music as well as in so much else—and to live between the ‘clicks’.
