Secretary of Defense Kegbreath has ended the mandatory flu vaccine for all U.S. military personnel, saying the shot is now optional. So far during the 2025-2026 season there have been at least 23,000 deaths from flu, so Kegbreath clearly meant it when he said “maximum lethality.”
