Kawagoe Castle

Kawagoe Castle was built by Ota Dokan and others in the Muromachi period (1457).
It was built at the same time as Edo Castle(The present Imperial Palace) in the Middle Ages.

During the Edo period, the castle was an important base for the Tokugawa Shogunate, and the daimyo (feudal lords), including the daimyo's chief retainers, were the masters of the castle.
Famous examples are Matsudaira Nobutsuna and Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu.
