In part in response to people complaining about climate change but like my friend Allen taking, on his dime, 2 flights each of the next three months overseas and sightseeing in the US. He complains because he can't imagine paying for a $40k electric car, putting in a ground source heat pump, upgrading his washer, refrigerator, etc. - any of those things
He laments how corporations are destroying the planet. I've seen him actually get teary in anger at those he blames. He at the same time wonders about the purchase of a home larger than the 4,000 square foot home his family of four live in. (a second home? Really!?)
He seems amazed and honestly disbelieves changing his life will make any measurable difference. Only corporations and law makers can affect change from his point of view. From my point of view I see no difference corporations, CEO's screen writers, all absolutely must do everything possible to reduce their CO2 impacts to zero - Now. Anything less is putting out a fire with brimstone. Nevertheless, I too am little different than Allan and realized I turn on the heat pump a/c burning fossil fuels for My Comfort. I could just as easily open early morning windows to cool my super insulated home, then trap that cold inside until late night. It works equally as well as my heat pump if I've a early morning 15 degree temp difference.
We've been shaped to see a single answer, like the Sackler family shaped millions of people to become addicts.
Myself I pray to not conform but to try to blame myself while holding others accountable too.
...and yes.. I'm getting better about checking the weather and opening the windows and more...
